The Crooked Christmas Tree – LEVI. YOU ARE WHO WERE SUPPOSED TO BE
LEVI. YOU ARE WHO WERE SUPPOSED TO BE
My youngest son is the king of the compliment. At random times throughout the day he will give the greatest compliments for no apparent reason st all. I used to think that there were ulterior motives. That he was setting me up for some big ask. A new ball. A new bike. A condo in Manhattan.
But most times he walks up says what he has to say and then walks away.
Not only are his compliments selfless. But they are also timely.
Unbeknownst to him many times God uses his words as the antidote to some attack the enemy has launched on my mind.
Last week was one of those occasions. That 6 year old walked in and said “Dad you are the best dad because you are who you are supposed to be.”
I said huh?
You are the best dad ever because you are who you are
His comment suggested that there is something I’m meant to be. Some purpose for my design. And I am at my best when I am busy being just that.
I am the best dad not because of what i was trying to be
Not because of what I wished i could be
Or even because of what some dad told me I was supposed to be.
I’m the best because I’m me
He accepts me for who I am.
And in a world of striving and trying, comparison and opinion ain’t it great to be accepted for just being who you are.
Cause there are many things I don’t do better than other dads. But there is one thing I am sure no dad does better than me
And that is being me.
So spend your days becoming the best version of you. Remembering that all God wants of you is for you to be the you he created. And I promise you no one in the world will ever do it better
