The Crooked Christmas Tree – LIGHTS
I think I’ve said it before but that won’t stop me from saying it again I LOVE CHRISTMAS TIME
The family, the food, the corny songs. I love it all.
But I’ve got to admit that battling for first on my list of Christmas loves has got to be christmas lights.
And here in Sacramento, the place to go to see Christmas lights is called The Fabulous 40s. This neighborhood is known around the country for their extravagant light show.
Lights are strung from tree to tree and they clothe almost every house on the street.
So we piled the family into the car. Hit the highway and drove many miles to see what the fuss all about at these Fabulous 40s.
When we arrived there were people everywhere, people walking, people driving and Santas riding motorbikes. And all for good reason. The Fabulous 40s did not disappoint. The lights were fabulous
Now I don’t really know the history for sure but I imagine that at some point, some neighbor decided to climb a ladder and ignore their electric bill and spread some christmas cheer. One house probably led to two and two to three. Then a block. The an entire street. And finally an entire neighborhood.
Now the light of that neighborhood draws thousands every year. But it all started with one house.
Just one house
Our world is dark and in need of hope. Our churches dying and needing revival.
Now we can all sit around and wait to see who willing to plug in the first light. Wait on the pastor to preach one sermon that sets the city on fire. Or we can, like that first house decide to light up the corner where we are and do it so brilliantly that we influence others to do the same.
When we do people will journey miles through the darkness to come find The Light.
