Melissa Summers

Melissa Summers is host of “Morning Joy” and can be heard weekday mornings 6-9am CST on Praise 90.1FM WJOU.  Melissa Summers’ career spans more than 25 years in radio and television, beginning while in the United States Army.  She has hosted innumerable features for various TV network affiliates.  Her voice and image has been both seen and heard around the world from appearances on “The Dating Game” and “Lifetime Television for Women”, to co-hosting an internationally syndicated radio show Lost in the 80’s, a program that aired in the United States, Bosnia, and in the U.S. Virgin Islands and she has broadcast live across the country including her most recent stint in Atlanta.  In the Atlanta market, Summers know as “Atlanta’s Girlfriend” was the noted midday personality for V-103, and was former host for Atlanta’s adult station, KISS 104.1 where she also served as Assistant Program Director.

It was this juncture in her career that she was impressed to leave the secular realm of music for religious reasons, thus Summers segued into the gospel arena and joined gospel radio as morning show host of “The Inspiration Morning Show” in Atlanta on Praise 97.5FM, as the morning drive host and was, then, one of the only women hosting a Morning Show solo anywhere in the country and in less than one year garnered top place ratings for her show.

From here God guided her steps to the state of Illinois to work for one of the largest Christian Television Networks in the world, “Three Angels Broadcasting Network” (3ABN), where she hosted an internationally viewed program called “Issues and Answers” and serves as a program coordinator for the network.  From here she moved on to become Director of Programming for a Worldwide Television Satellite Network called Global Family Network (GFN).  Summers was responsible for providing programming for a Global viewing audience.

Melissa’s journey continues, as her steps have been Divinely directed to where she is currently, Praise 90.1FM WJOU at Oakwood University.   “Here,” she quotes “is the place the Lord has led me in answer to prayers I didn’t even know how to pray.”
