About Us

Our Mission

Praise 90.1 FM WJOU is Oakwood University’s noncommercial, listener-supported radio ministry. Every day, WJOU seeks to broadcast faith, hope, and inspiration through gospel music, meaningful conversations, and educational programming that uplifts hearts, strengthens communities, and reflects the love of Christ.

Our Story

Formed by Oakwood University in 1979 and formerly known as WOCG-FM, WJOU has grown into a 24/7 radio ministry serving the Tennessee Valley while extending its ministry through digital listening. As part of the Oakwood community, WJOU also supports an environment where students can develop practical broadcasting and media skills while discovering how communication can be used in service and ministry.

Our Impact

WJOU serves through inspiring programming, community information, public-service announcements, volunteer engagement, and opportunities that connect listeners with one another.
