A Moment in Time – Noah Washington
A native of Washington, DC., Noah Lafayette Washington was born to Lafayette and Renee Washington. He attended his primary school days at Dupont Park Adventist School in Washington, DC and his secondary school days at the historic Pine Forge Academy in Pine Forge, Pennsylvania. Responding to the call of ministry on his life, Pastor Washington matriculated through school, earning his Bachelor’s degree in Ministerial Theology from Oakwood University (College) in Huntsville, Alabama. It was there where he met and later married his college sweetheart, Twila Drew of Muskegon, Michigan. After graduating from Oakwood University, he earned his Master’s in Divinity degree from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan and is currently finishing up his doctoral work there with a concentration in Family Ministries.
As an ordained minister of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, he has conducted revivals and seminars nationally and internationally about knowing God’s will and purpose for your life, understanding how God speaks to you, family life issues and dating. He is a certified Marriage and Pre-Marital Counselor through Prepare-Enrich and SYMBIS and is currently working on his doctoral dissertation titled: “An Alternative to American Dating Practices for Young Adults.”
He began pastoral ministry at the Emmanuel-Brinklow Seventh-day Adventist Church in Ashton, Maryland as the assistant pastor, where he led the church in successful youth and young adult ministry. While there, he started a young adult ministry called Reconnect that encouraged young adults to establish and have a passionate relationship with Jesus as well as provided an environment for teenagers to express their spirituality on Wednesday night and youth church.
He was then called to serve as the pastor of the Bladensburg SDA Church in Bladensburg, Maryland. Through his leadership, the church experienced a passionate and vibrant worship experience, community gas give-a-ways, community family adoption, school tutoring programs, English as a Second Language (ESL) programs, revivals, and endless momentum. Under his leadership, the church also purchased and relocated to a new ministry building in Bowie, Maryland.
Currently, Pastor Washington is the lead pastor of the Ephesus Seventh-day Adventist Church in Columbus, OH; where they strive to be the Hands and Feet of Jesus in the northeast section of Columbus, Ohio. Since his time there he has energized passion in worship, regular outreach initiates and a commitment to families and evangelism. Pastor Washington is a published author who has been awarded for his community involvement and partnership with city officials. He is also the owner of Inspiring Purpose which endeavors to help individuals find their purpose in life, deal with relationship management, and change recidivism in prison.
More importantly, Pastor Washington has a passion and a heart for the brokenhearted and rejected. He is very passionate about people coming to Jesus and finding their life’s purpose. In his spare time, he enjoys music, sports, laughing and spending time with his wife Twila and their two children, Noah Alexander, and Drew Mackenzie. His motto in life is Jeremiah 1:5— “Before I formed you in your mother’s womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you and appointed you….”
