A Moment in Time – Unshakeable Faith
I love family worship because in our home worship is a full engagement event and on this particular evening, my husband and I were trying to set up an object lesson about trust.
We blindfolded the girls and told them to sit down.
Our intent was to quickly place a chair behind them, but both of them sat down faster than we anticipated and they fell flat on their backs.
Attempting to stifle our laughter we lifted them to their feet and ensured they were unharmed.
“Ok, let’s try that again” I said fully expecting both of them to say “no”, but to my surprise they positioned themselves once more and sat. This time we were ready and they safely found themselves sitting in the chair we had quietly slipped behind them.
“Why did you agree to sit down even after you fell the first time?” I asked my oldest daughter “because you’re my mom and you love me so, I trust you!”
I was speechless.
That night I wrote a question in my journal, do you understand the level of faith it takes to trust someone even after there’s been a “fall”? and almost as if on cue God responded, “I want you to trust me like that”
You see we have a track record with our kids. They know we love them more than anything in this world.
There are times we haven’t gotten it all the way right, but we have never allowed them to be destroyed. They can count on us to protect them, and even when at times they are hurt they know we will have their backs.
And it’s on this truth they have built their faith in us.
God has never allowed me to be destroyed. I can count on him to protect me, and he has held firm to the promise that he would never forsake me even when at times life hurt
That night I received a clear picture of God’s love for me and on that love I fastened my faith. Life hasn’t been perfect, but His faithfulness toward me has.
Today I invite you reevaluate what your faith is built on because a faith built upon the TRUTH of God’s love for you is a truly unshakable faith.
