Artist of the Month – Sherice Tomlin
“Sherice Tomlin’s music will take you to a place of worship that will have you lifting your hands in praise before you realize it.”
Hi! I’m Sherice Tomlin – a native of Bronx, NY, and a daughter of Jamaican parents. Music has been a major part of my life from early childhood – I sang my first solo when I was only three years old.
I’m a graduate of Oakwood University, where I sang with the renowned Dynamic Praise gospel choir. I continued to sing with the choir for years after graduating, as their lead soloist. I’ve been blessed to minister with and / or share the stage with Tramaine Hawkins, Judith McAlister, Maurette Brown-Clarke, John Stoddart, Duawne Starling, Wintley Phipps, Committed, Amber Bulluck, Minister Earl Byum and many more.
In addition to my personal vocal music ministry, I am also a choir director and worship leader. I currently serve as the Minister of Music at the Mount Moriah Baptist Church in the District of Columbia, and at the Metropolitan Seventh-day Adventist Church in Hyattsville, MD.
I love young people!! Since moving to the DMV in 2013, I’ve had the privilege of starting three gospel youth choirs, one of which features 100 voices with singers as young as 10! In my personal life, that love for youth has caused me to open my home to foster more than 25 children over the past seven years. Several years ago, I took the additional step of becoming a single mother when I adopted three teenagers.
I’ve had the opportunity to record two albums: Without You, Lord; and Just Like Heaven. Fans can look forward to a new album in the near future.
I am deeply grateful to God for the gifts and talents He has blessed me with and have made it my life’s work to use them for His glory.
