The Crooked Christmas Tree – THE EVE
THE EVE
Yesterday was the day before Christmas and what a day it was My parents were here
My sister had arrived
The pantry was filling
The oven was warming
Christmas music was blasting
We were all having an amazing time
All of us
Except for one
My youngest son was unimpressed by all of the festive fare
He ate the food and played the games
Loves his family
But none of this distracted him from the fact that this was only christmas eve
And the real reason why christmas eve is worth celebrating is because it means Christmas is around the corner
And so periodically he would ask How many more hours till christmas
And when we all got tired answering he picked up my phone and asked Siri himself cause he just couldn’t wait till christmas
And so just before midnight he and his brother gathered around a digital clock in the kitchen And counted down final minutes and seconds until they all exploded
MERRY CHRISTMAS
They danced and screamed and ran and jumped because the day they waited for was finally here
There was no more waiting
No more anticipating
The Eve was over
IT WAS CHRISTMAS
You know my life has been amazing and every day I praise God for it The joys that I have experienced the people I have met
My tribe, my family, gives me a reason to wake with a smile
My ministry gives me a mission to pursue
Life is good
And if God was able to salvage so much good from so much bad time what He has in store next is gonna blow my mind
So between my joys I check the clock and smile. The seconds are ticking away. This Eve is almost over. And a party you cannot imagine is about to begin.
So go ahead. Enjoy this life. But don’t you dare miss the next!
