A Moment in Time – Kelli Raí Collins
Kelli Raí Collins was born in Washington DC and raised in California from ages 6-16. She is a product of SDA education attending Newbury Park Adv Academy, Pine Forge Academy, Oakwood Univ and WAU. She’s been living in Maryland now since December of 2000 when she married her college sweetheart Brandon Collins. They are proud parents of 3 college students- Mykel (who graduated from OU in 2020), Zoie and Solomon.
Singing, writing and creating has always been part of Kelli’s life. Music and singing were the firsts, coming from a musical family, a 5 yr old Kelli used to make up songs and make her family watch her perform shows for them in their living room. When she turned 12 she discovered how to express herself through poetry. When she got a bit older she started writing songs as well.
In 2005, Kelli started writing devotional messages and sending them out as emails. Over the years, people urged her to compile the messages and publish a book. In October of 2018 Kelli self published a devotional book called Happy Mail: a book of devotionals. The book is available on amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com, goodreads.com, books.google.com in paperback and kindle form.
Kelli is currently the registrar at Takoma Academy and is part of the music ministry at Capitol Hill SDA church. She is currently in graduate school studying Marriage and Family Therapy. Kelli believes that being a therapist is her calling and she’s taking the steps to walk in her purpose.
